![]() I reckon it'll be more like BNW - at the moment the papers can scream out a headline "Bird Flu means we will all be dead in two years", but no-one cares - we've seen it all before. But fear hardly causes pain, the media is giving the people what they want (not directly), something to be afraid of. But yes, fear is a big part of the media, when people are afraid they need to know more so they watch the news more which increases ratings. I don't know how people of foreign nations see America in this perticular aspect, but I can't imagine that they would have a better view than I would. What I see in America lines up with "kill society by pleasure" more that it does the other option. ![]() Seeing as though my knowledge is rather limited on either story, I can only debate based on the concept of the topic, not it's context. But hey, to each their own, you can believe what you like. The way you put it, it sounds like you believe that terrorists are a friendly, misunderstood group of people who don't really want to hurt anyone. ![]() Terrorism and terrorists are things that you can't exactly look at without fear, they are trying to kill people, mercilessly. Ummmm, I've been subjected to western media all my life and not once have I seen anything that would single out black people as a group of people to be afraid of? What have you been watching? In 1984, the media dramatizes spies and "the brotherhood" (the non-existant underground gruop trying to bring down the system), as well as the enemy leaders and peoples to enspire fear and hate, much like the media does with blacks and terrorists, respectivly. The western media is actually more like 1984.
